Bruce Springsteen Lyrics. "Souls Of The Departed". On the road to Basra stood young Lieutenant Jimmy Bly. Detailed to go through the clothes of the soldiers who died. At night in dreams he sees their souls rise. Like dark geese into the Oklahoma skies. Well this is a prayer for the souls of the departed. Those who've gone and left their babies brokenhearted.

Mar 31,  · In other words, Human Touch/Lucky Town is the Springsteen equivalent to Season 2 of Friday Night Lights. But to dismiss them entirely would be to miss out on a great lost Bruce Springsteen album.

Lucky Town is one of Springsteen's rare "good" albums in that it's good but not fantastically brilliant as is usually the case. It's got 3 top songs in "Lucky Town", "Living Proof" and "Souls of the Departed". The rest of the album is typical Springsteen but at times that is just the problem, its all a little too typical Springsteen.

"Souls of the Departed" is a reflection on the first Iraq war - like Devils & Dust is a reflection on the second one. I play this CD quite frequently - and my wife likes it very much as well. I think it just has plenty of heart in the right place, and I recommend it.
